DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING OF SCHOOL BUS AND VAN DRIVERS
In an effort to prevent accidents and injuries resulting from the misuse of alcohol and controlled substances by school bus drivers and van drivers, M.S.A.D. No. 75 will operate a drug and alcohol testing program in accordance with federal and State laws and regulations, and implement that program for both school bus drivers and van drivers.
The Superintendent shall be responsible for the development of administrative regulations to implement a drug and alcohol testing program. Included will be provisions for pre-employment testing for controlled substances only, and reasonable suspicion, random, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up testing for controlled substances and alcohol. The regulations will also address education on drug and alcohol use and sources of assistance available to school bus drivers and van drivers for substance abuse.
